Gmail 's three options for 2nd step verification and secure login


Do you know? it is very important that we should keep our mail account very safe. you may keep your confidential data in the mail. Example: Bank Credentials, login credentials, your personal data, etc...
Everyone knew, mail id is very important to all of us. Bcoz, if someone hacks our mail id they may get our personal information and Bank account details. So, always keep your mail id secured.
Gmail provides three options for 2nd step verification to login.
Use your mobile phone for 2nd step verification. Usually, Net-banking will ask us for 2nd step verification for secure login. E-Mails are more important as you already know well.
Gmail provides three options for 2nd step verification for secured login.
  1. SMS verification code. Your registered mobile number will receive SMS.
  2. Call verification code. If you do not receive the SMS for verification code, you can choose the Call option for verification code. It's automatic call, just you need to select the option at the time of login.
  3. Backup verification code. If you are not able to get the above two options, you can have the backup verification code in to your system like a wallet. Sometimes, our mobile network will not be receiving the signal properly due to network problems. In that situation you can use the backup code for verification.


    To activate, Please follow the instructions:-
    Option No.1
  1. Open your Browser → GMAIL → Enter your Login Credentials.




  2. Once you logged in, Go to Settings
  3. Select Accounts and Import → Other Google Account Settings
  4. Select Security → Click Edit
  5. Select Start setup
  6. Enter your phone number and Click Send code
  7. Check your mobile. You will receive the verification code. Enter the Verification code number.
  8. Click Confirm to activate.

  9. Set up has been completed.

  10. Now Logout and Login again. You will be requested to enter the SMS verification code after you have entered the user id and password.

  11. That's all. Your 2nd step verification is done successfully. You can continue with your mail checking.
Option No.2 is that, if you are not able to get the SMS verification code due to signal problem. you can choose the call option to get the 2nd step verification code on your mobile number. Please see the below screenshots for the next option.
  1. Open your browser and Login with your gmail account.
  2. Now, you would be in 2nd step verification page after you have entered the user id and password. In case if you have not got the SMS verification code, choose Call your phone ending in XX.

  3. You will get a voice call from google for the verification code. Enter the number.

  4. That's all. You can check your mail.
Option No.3 is a great feature of gmail's verification code. If you do not receive SMS or VOICE call for gmail's 2nd step verification, you can use the backup verification code.
In order to use, enable the steps below.
  1. Gmail Backup code.
  2. If you have already updated your mobile number, it will go straightly to the security page. Otherwise, you need to complete the mobile number verification step first .
  3. Click Show backup codes


  4. Click Generate codes and copy the backup codes and save it in your system or choose Save to text file. Then Logout from gmail.

  5. Now try to check login with backup verification codes. After entering your password, Click Don't have your phone?


  6. Select Use a backup code.


  7. Now enter your Backup verification code which you have saved in local drive.










That's all. You can check your mail now.
Note: If you are running out of codes, you can generate it again.
